Dr Anna Polo (Padua) Diglossia and linguistic hierarchies in the Viceroyalty of Naples: Neapolitan between oral use and normative marginality between Tuscan and Spanish
The lecture examines the diglossic configuration of the Viceroyalty of Naples, in which Neapolitan, although widely spoken, remains without grammatical codification and is restricted to oral use. In contrast, Tuscan and Spanish establish themselves as standard and languages of power, as evidenced by the grammars and treatises of the time, including those by Perles y Campos.

Dr Giulia Nalesso (Padua) Beyond Spanish: the multilingual reality of Spain in higher education. Challenges and teaching proposals
The aim of this lecture is to encourage reflection on the teaching of minority languages in Spain within degree programmes where Spanish is already offered as a subject. Starting from the recognition of Spain’s multilingual reality, the lecture will examine the role that languages such as Catalan, Galician and Basque can play in this context. The aim is to discuss the possibilities for integrating these languages into existing curricula, both as independent subjects and as cross-curricular supplements within Spanish courses.
