Open Day at the Department of Romance Studies: enthusiasm for languages is palpable

Almost 300 pupils from nine schools - from Leoben to Mürzzuschlag to Deutschlandsberg - visited the open day at the Department of Romance Studies at the University of Graz on 10 October 2025. In 16 workshops, they were able to experience French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian in a creative way: with games, music, short films, puzzles and small language challenges. A special highlight was the BarEl Quijote, which also took visitors on a culinary journey to Romania - with typical local delicacies and plenty of atmosphere. The enthusiasm was great - interested, curious and smiling faces could be seen in every room. Students and lecturers from the institute led through the programme and showed how diverse and lively the learning of Romance languages is.
