The “Wall” Library was open late again last Tuesday: On the evening of 3 December, Romanists met at the “Wall” Library soirée ciné to watch the award-winning film Io Capitano (winner of the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival 2023, among others) by Matteo Garrone, starring Seydou Sarr and Moustapha Fall.
The drama is about two cousins, Seydou and Moussa, who set off from their home in Senegal to Europe to realize their dream of becoming famous musicians. On their odyssey through the desert to the coast of Italy, reality hits them hard - a migration story based on the real-life biography of the main character Seydou Sarr, which plays out in a similar way every day without the situation changing for the better.
The soirée was organised as part of this year's Romance Studies teaching focus Romania on the move - Mobility and migration in Romance-speaking cultures organised by Simona Bartoli-Kucher, Andrea Renker and Francesca Amone from the Library “Wall”. Drini Halili introduced the film from the student side.
All of the director's films are available to borrow from the library's media centre.
