Shortly before the end of her research stay, Prof. Maura Cezario from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro gave a guest lecture on innovative adverbial constructions in Brazilian Portuguese at the Institute of Romance Studies last Monday. Brazilian Portuguese is characterized by a pronounced openness to linguistic innovation, which is the reason for its strong divergence from European Portuguese. It was also decided to tackle further research tasks at the interface of the Graz FWF project "The Second Way: Prepositional Adverbials in Primary Dialects of Romance" with the Brazilian research group.
