Huge applause for Alain Mabanckou and his 'orchestra'

Alain Mabanckou

The literary scholars Andrea Renker and Verena Richter and the interpreter Alexandra Marics

The event with the Franco-Congolese author Alain Mabanckou, organised as part of the Transnational Literature Days 'World Word Travellers' at the Wall Library, attracted a great deal of interest. Not only the audience, but also the author himself was very enthusiastic about the excellent preparation and the format of the discussion. Andrea Renker and Verena Richter not only asked the author highly interesting questions, but also translated excerpts from the text into German. In contrast to current book presentations, which concentrate on one novel, a broad spectrum was covered, including general poetological questions, important themes, novels, poetry, essays and his prestigious professorship at the Collège de France, arousing great curiosity about his books, which the author was happy to sign afterwards and - to the delight of many - provided with spontaneous graphics.
