Special questions for stays abroad

Special questions may arise before, during and after a stay abroad. We have collected and answered important questions.

Credits

How does the crediting of courses from other degree programs or from abroad work?

The Dean's Office of the Faculty of Humanities has detailed instructions for this.

Can courses from universities of applied sciences or teacher training colleges / universities be recognized as free electives (FWF)?

Yes, any course from any accredited university in Austria or abroad as well as any domestic university of applied sciences can be recognized as an FWF.

Who do I contact if I have questions about advance notification, Learning Agreement or recognition from abroad?

In this case, please contact the responsible chairperson of the Curriculum Commission directly.

Where should the applications for advance notification/recognition or Learning Agreements be sent?

Please send the applications for advance notification as pdf documents to lehramtsstudien(at)uni-graz.at. The chairperson of the Curriculum Commission will then sign the applications electronically.

Learning Agreements, on the other hand, must be printed out and submitted to the Chairperson of the Curriculum Commission for handwritten signature.

Where can i find a comparison table for university performance assessment in Austria, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, England, Canada and Romania?

Here you can find a comparison table.

I have worked as a language assistant in France/Italy/Spain. Can I get credit for this teaching experience for Internship 2 in the corresponding subject?

Students can have their language teaching experience credited towards Internship 2 if the scope and content of this experience is the same as Internship 2 and if they taught the relevant subject abroad. If German was taught abroad, at least half of Internship 2 may be credited. The second half must be completed at a school in the respective subject.

The Department for Pedagogical Professionalization is responsible for crediting in this case. If you have any questions, please contact them directly.

Is it possible to take the courses "Frz. FD: Fachdidaktische Begleitung zu PPS 2: Französich / Ital. FD: Fachdidaktische Begleitung zu PPS 2: Italienisch / Span . FD: Fachdidaktische Begleitung zu PPS 2: Spansich" during my semester abroad?

Unfortunately, this is not possible, as this is a course that accompanies the internship. Furthermore, the content covered relates to the Austrian school system, which is why it is almost impossible to find an equivalent course at a host university abroad.

Placement test

The placement test can only be replaced by the following language courses/diplomas:

  • Diploma in French: DELF (from level A2 upwards, not older than two years) (Please send the certificate via e-mail to the responsible coordinator of the French language).
  • Diplomas in Italian: CELI (Università di Perugia) CILS (Università di Siena) ROMA 3 (Università La Sapienza di Roma 3) PLIDA (Dante Alighieri e Università La Sapienza di Roma) in each case from level A2 upwards, not older than two years (Please send the certificate by e-mail to the coordinator responsible for the Italian language).
  • Diploma in Spanish: DELE (from level A2 upwards, not older than two years) (Please send the certificate via e-mail to the responsible coordinator of the Spanish language).

As an ERASMUS student, you have the right to participate in any language training courses. However, it is recommended that these correspond to your knowledge and skills. Please contact the coordinator responsible for language training for a consultation.

Course planning

Basically, you should plan your studies in such a way that you take into account the frequency of courses on offer from the outset and give priority to courses that are offered less frequently. If there are constraints that cause a delay in your studies, you can have equivalent courses from abroad credited. In cases of hardship, the Cuko chairperson can grant an exemption for a parallel attendance of courses.

ATTENTION: When planning your studies in the fall, please always consider the full-year offer on UGO!
