TANZ DES VERRATS | DÉSERTER
September 2001, a congress on the Havel. Paul Heudeber, mathematician, communist and concentration camp survivor, who has enjoyed the status of a saint since his unexplained death, is honored. Everyone's gaze wanders furtively to Maja Scharnhorst, Paul's great love, as fascinating as ever at 83, a legend who at some point decided to pursue a career in the West - without Paul. When the images of the destroyed Twin Towers reach the party, the event takes a completely different turn. And it is up to Irina, the daughter of these larger-than-life lovers, to untangle and reweave the loose threads of their story. A great novel about resistance, love, betrayal and the solace of mathematical beauty in a world shaken by violence.
