On March 11, the University of Graz participated in the Choix Goncourt de l'Autriche for the fifth consecutive year. In this competition to select Austria’s favorite French-language novel of the year, the Department of Romance Studies at the University was excellently represented by Milan Feyferlik, Linda Holanik, and Eva Prickler.
At the French Embassy in Vienna, they decided on this year’s winner alongside representatives from the universities of Vienna, Klagenfurt, Innsbruck, and Salzburg. Also present was the writer Philippe Claudel, President of the Académie Goncourt. Milan’s enthusiastic participation in the debate and Linda’s empathetic and captivating recitation from Laurent Mauvignier’s novel “La Maison vide” remain particularly memorable.
The student jury ultimately selected the book “La Nuit au Coeur” by the writer Nathacha Appanah.
