Today we are pleased to welcome Maria Maura Cezario as a guest of Prof. Martin Hummel at the Department of Romance Studies at the University of Graz. Ms. Cezario is Professor of Linguistics at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in Brazil.
Her research focuses on linguistic theory and analysis.
She is the national coordinator of the research group "Discurso & Gramática"(https://discursoegramaticablog.wordpress.com/), which has compiled an extensive corpus of spoken Brazilian Portuguese collected in many places in Brazil. One focus of her work is the corpus-based analysis of Brazilian adverbs. This topic also forms the basis of the long-standing cooperation with the Graz research group "The Adjective Adverb Interfaces in Romance"(https://adjective-adverb.uni-graz.at), which Professor Hummel heads. Prof. Cezario was or is an associated member of two FWF projects in Graz, in the context of which Prof. Hummel will pay a return visit to the UFRJ in November this year. She will give a guest lecture at the Institute of Romance Studies on 23.10.2024. Numerous working meetings with the research group are also planned.
